Thalesque Was So Hot We Set The Theatre On Fire & Thank You! | February 21st, 2011

I want to take a moment and just say thank you to everyone who came last night to the Thalesque Party. We had a packed house and we were tickled happy that so many people came out to show their support for the Neanderthal Arts Festival. We had three great performances last night featuring two Caroline Liffmann choreographed dance numbers with Daniel Martin and David Mott, improvisational comedy with Pump Trolley Comedy, and a short piece by Andrew Templeton where he explored the mystery behind the Neanderthal disappearance of so long ago. Stephen Drover also directed the piece and he made it not just awesome but haw-some. Thank you to all of the performers, writers, and everyone from the Vancouver East Cultural Centre.

We also had a little excitement at the end of the second performance. Right before the final dance number with David Mott and Daniel Martin and while the Pump Trolley Comedy group was still on stage, we had a minor emergency. A light just off stage had its coloured gel burn through and it made a whole lot of smoke. There was a brief tense moment as the Cultch staff walked around to figure out the source of the smoke but they sprang into action and hosed it down with an extinguisher. The audience and performers left the Historic Theatre and everything was fine.

The best part about the incident (is there a best part?) was the suggestion the Pump Trolley Comedy group was using at the time the fire was identified was "fire dance".

It was meant to be. Thanks again and if I have forgotten someone here, let us know and I will update this posting to add you in! It was a great night!

Plank Did A Podcast About Thalesque! | February 20th, 2011

Shane Birley over at Plank Magazine sent out this message this afternoon and he said some very nice things about us. Yes, yes, Shane is me. But, hey, you can't blame a guy for trying to get people to come to a party, can you? You can give it a listen below.

See you guys there and if you don't show up, I will tickle you until you pee your pants. No, really, I will. It has been done before.
