Thalesque: Party with the Neanderthals

The Neanderthal Arts Festival, Vancouver’s coolest summer arts festival, will be hosting a winter party to celebrate its second year. The party will feature an exciting line up of artists creating original work with ideas suggested by the audiences themselves.

In keeping with its hip, swaggering use of the web, the Festival will invite the public to answer the following question:

What would you like to see at this year’s 2011 Neanderthal Arts Festival?

Maybe you’d like to see cave painting or fire dancing. Perhaps you're a fan of hairy mammoths and stone-carving. Or maybe you just want more scantily clad cave women! Whatever you are passionate about, send us your suggestions in the form of text or images which can be either tweeted (tweets should contain #thal2011 so we can we track them) or emailed to the Festival at crazyideas@thal.ca.

The line up of artists participating in this year’s launch party will include a new creation by writer Andrew Templeton, director Stephen Drover and actors Todd Thomson and Heather Lindsay as well as a new performance by choreographer Caroline Liffmann featuring Daniel Martin and Dave Mott. We'll also be hosting the improvisational stylings of Pump Trolley Comedy. Not to mention the return of the mega-popular photobooth by our friends at Cheese Photobooths.

Neanderthal is a curated festival that provides a platform for theatre artists and companies to showcase and try out new and experimental work. Our goal is to encourage theatre that takes risks, is creative and has a clear artistic vision. The 2011 festival will happen at the Cultch from July 20 - 31, 2011.

There will be all kinds of great things going on there. Why not drop on by?
